This is guidance (not set in stone) from Mr Li, on the direction of picking open the door lock:-

European manufacturers: pick to the front to open the driver door:
BMW, VAG, Mercedes, Opel/Vauxhall, Fiat etc.
Right hand drive UK (pick clockwise)
Left hand drive (pick anti-clockwise)

Asia manufacturers: pick to the rear to open the driver door:
Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia etc.
Right hand drive UK (pick anti-clockwise)
Left hand drive (pick clockwise)
